The great value of the Word of God is in its ability to reveal who God is, and to transform the life of the reader. David, the great Psalmist of Israel, declared the Word of God to be more desirable than gold, and sweeter than honey to the taste. Jesus Himself defined a true disciple as one who continues in the Word, which is able to set him free. Yet even knowing these wonderful truths, we often find difficulty in consistently reading our Bibles. One of the reasons we are discouraged from being in the Word, is the daunting enormity of the task. Many neglect their Bibles, because they simply do not know where to start. It is with this in mind, that we venture into this Bible survey. We are taking a bird's eye view of each of the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament and the twenty-seven books of the New Testament, and our hope is that this view will help you to understand the big picture of each book and the Bible as a whole. We pray that this perspective will make further personal study more fruitful and enjoyable as you fill in the gaps. These studies are devotional in nature; familiarizing ourselves with the Bible will bring us into fellowship with the Lord, and strengthen our walk with Him.
